| September 22, 2011 | Indoor Air Quality Performance for LEED For mechanical contractors, this is one of the most common LEED credits that they are responsible for. Indoor air quality performance is an important but complicated part of any LEED project. While it can be achieved through both mechanical and natural ventilation, this webinar focuses on mechanically ventilated spaces and covers the IEQ prerequisite, the credit for increased ventilation, and the outdoor air delivery monitoring credit. These requirements are important as they can significantly impact equipment and control costs. |

| May 26, 2011 | Indoor Chemical and Pollutant Source Control for LEED Building owners are increasingly putting an emphasis on reducing occupant exposure to potentially hazardous particulates and chemicals. This has led many LEED projects to attempt the Indoor Chemical and Pollutant Source Control credit. This webinar covered both the design and construction requirements of this credit, which focuses on additional exhaust and filtration requirements. Additionally, the webinar discussed the portions of the credit that should be covered by the architect and general contractor. |

| March 24, 2011 | 10 Tips for Performing Plumbing Work on a LEED Project A project manager's familiarity of LEED is becoming more and more essential. Despite the downward trend of commercial construction spending, the number of projects registering for LEED certification continues to grow. Additionally, more cities are trying to increase efficiency in their areas by requiring a minimum number of LEED credits achieved, regardless if the project is seeking certification. As a result, many project managers are being asked to have a thorough understanding of LEED procedures, credits and processes. This one hour webinar outlines the Plumbing Contractor's role on a project seeking LEED Certification. This tutorial will instruct Project Managers on the fundamentals that should be understood at any LEED project kick-off. Learn about your options and limitations on a green building. Find out how to collaborate with Designers, GC's, and Owners to meet the project's LEED goals. |

| February 17, 2011 | Construction Indoor Air Quality Management Plans for LEED Many projects are choosing to implement IAQ management plans to help reduce air quality problems resulting from construction and renovations. This webinar covers the LEED requirements for IAQ management plans - both during construction and before occupancy. A good understanding of these requirements is essential for a mechanical contractor as they can have significant scope, pricing, and schedule impacts. Just as importantly, the webinar covers what portions of these credits should be covered by the general contractor or owner – and should be excluded from the mechanical contractors scope. |

| November 9, 2010 | Net Zero Energy Buildings Net Zero Energy is a design concept for buildings that are to use no more energy than they generate on-site through renewable sources. The concept requires that a building's energy use be evaluated and then reduced to the lowest level possible; hence, the term Net Zero. Natural ventilation is a logical choice to reduce energy loads, but rarely practical or possible. Consequently, many owners are adopting a hybrid system to achieve Net Zero, using a mix of mechanical and natural ventilation called mixed mode ventilation. In this presentation, Tim Wentz covers some potential strategies and technologies, such as mixed mode ventilation, that can be used to achieve a Net Zero Energy design in buildings. Tim will also present potential obstacles that design teams can encounter as part of the process. This session provides a great overview of a growing niche market for mechanical and service contractors, with implications for plumbing contractors as well. |

| July 15, 2010 | Geothermal Heat Pump Systems When used on the right type of project, geothermal heat pump systems can be the most economical choice for buildings to supply heat. In this presentation, Matt Gregg will discuss the basics of geothermal heat pump systems and how they have been used in real life case studies that he has worked on. Each of these systems has different design considerations that needed to be factored in during construction. After the basics of geothermal are discussed, Matt covered projects that he worked on as part of McKinstry Company's team in the Seattle area. The first project is an open loop system that they did in Portland. THe second example is a vertical closed loop project in Spokane. |

| June 17, 2010 | Water Auditing For plumbing contractors, water auditing can become a powerful driver for new business. A water audit is an assessment of how much water is used in a building and how much can be saved over lifetime of new products. By using updated ROI calculators that incorporate product and labor prices with utility cost trends and forecasted maintenance, contractors can show owners how quickly they can pay back the additional expense required to install new fixtures. In his presentation, Troy Aichele shared the advanced ROI calculator he uses on projects and how it is applied during water audits to gain new business. |

| May 19, 2010 | Solar Hot Water Using solar collectors to heat water has been gaining in popularity. Once thought to be a residential application, the technology is moving into larger buildings, used now not only for domestic hot water and pools, but also for space heating and process heating. In this webinar, Matt Gregg covered both the basics and some real life case studies involving solar hot water. Matt explained the different technologies that can be applied such as flat panel collectors, evacuated tubes, parabolic troughs, and building integrated systems. Although simple in design, these technologies have a sharp learning curve to install correctly. Matt discussed the different design considerations that each of these technologies necessitate, such as heat dissipation, freeze protection, system mounting, roof maintenance, sizing and location. |

| February 25, 2010 | Water Efficiency Case Study in Healthcare Water efficiency retrofits in a building are considered an easy opportunity for owners to get quick payback on sustainable improvements. With rising water costs and incentives from local municipalities and utilities, the payback period for installing high efficiency plumbing systems is drastically reduced. In this presentation, Troy Aichele will go through a case study of a recent project involving the Providence St. Peter Hospital. He will recount the sales technique, water audit, ROI calculations and healthcare specific concerns regarding plumbing. Troy also completes the webinar by evaluating the water consumption levels after the project and maintenance of the hospital. |

| September 11, 2008 | Legal Liability in Green Building Construction projects have grown increasingly complex in recent years, and the addition of “green” or “sustainability” goals to many of them adds both to the overall complexity of the design and construction and to the legal and business risks that the project’s participants face. This webinar discussed: (1) Some of the particular legal risks that mechanical contractors, as key players in the “greening” process, must anticipate, (2) How those risks can be identified, mitigated, and controlled, and (3) The effects that "greening" is likely to have on project delivery methods and contracting schemes. | August 20, 2008 | Green Means Business This webinar provides mechanical service contractors with an array of practical ideas they can incorporate into their business offerings to provide their customers with energy-efficient, cost effective indoor environmental solutions for their buildings' systems. The program covered such sustainable services as "green" preventative maintenance contracts, retrocommissioning, energy audits, payback analysis, LEED expertise, and metering. Such programs can help building owners enhance the "value" of their buildings by providing healthier and safer environments for their tenants, saving natural resources, reducing environmental impacts and increasing productivity while leading to additional opportunities and enhanced profits for contractors. MSCA's new "Model Green Preventative Maintenance Program" was discussed. (39 minutes) |

| May 22, 2008 | Economic Analysis of High Performance Strategies Explore the methods available to conduct an economic analysis of green alternatives for mechanical and plumbing contractors. Green or high-performance alternatives generally occur in three main areas impacting mechanical/plumbing contractors: water efficiency, energy efficiency and indoor air quality. The analysis of green alternatives is a difficult process that is dependent on many variables, such as utility costs, labor productivity, regional construction differences, building type and other similar variables. This webinar provides the tools to help select the best possible alternatives for your projects and to avoid unnecessary risks. (54 minutes) |
