The Mechanical Contractors Association of America, Inc. (MCAA) is a national 501(c)(6) trade association of approximately 2,300 of the nation's leading mechanical, service, and plumbing contractors. Member companies find value in MCAA’s programs and services, including:
MCAA's mechanical contractors are energized to be leaders in this new era of high performance construction. Mechanical contractors on a major new building or project often have responsibility for the heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems as well as the the plumbing systems, and therefore are integral to both the energy and water efficiency of the project. Therefore, they have a central role in the achievement of a great many LEED points on most projects. A number of MCAA contractors also do energy and renewable energy projects unrelated to buildings, and are accomplishing much to make the United States less dependent on other nations.
MCAA is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council, the High Performance Building Congressional Caucus Coalition, and the Sustainable Buildings Industry Council.
The Mechanical Service Contractors of America represents the members that are service contractors, and provides them with additional unique educational opportunities and programs. Service contractors are uniquely qualified to work on existing buildings, maximizing and surpassing the design performance of the HVAC systems to improve energy efficiency and performance. A number of members have attained the MSCA Green Star status as a result of meeting rigorous standards of knowledge and performance in green service.
MSCA is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council.
The Plumbing Contractors of America represents the members that are plumbing contractors. New opportunities are emerging with green building, commissioning and codes and the PCA provides the necessary education to keep companies ahead of the curve. Plumbing contractors have a major contribution to make to the development of buildings with sustainable designs, as the importance of water efficiency and the integration of new products entering the market have given plumbing contractors an important role. To assist contractors entering this market, the PCA has been working with the MCAA to develop new green building resources for plumbing and mechanical contractors.
PCA is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council.
MCAA's Manufacturer/ Supplier Council members are companies that manufacture and supply the products and services used by our contractors in their projects. These companies are full members of MCAA and are also leaders in the evolution of high performance construction.
MCAA’s independent foundation, the Mechanical Contracting Education & Research Foundation (MCERF), has carried out research and published results on a number of important industry issues, including green mechanical construction. MCERF sponsored a recent report authored by McGraw Hill on the convergence of green and building information modeling. Through its Funding Educational Excellence program, MCERF provides material support for student internship grants, emerging student chapter grants, and student chapter of excellence grants—a real investment in the future of the industry.
MCAA's headquarters is located at 1385 Piccard Drive, Rockville, Maryland, 20850. If you have any questions about MCAAGreen.org, or our efforts to foster high performance mechanical construction, contact us!
